Upcoming Year End Sale
Morning All:
Hope everyone had a safe and happy Thanksgiving Holiday last weekend!!
We have a couple of things upcoming we wanted to let everyone know about. The first thing we wanted to let everyone know about is the shop hours over the upcoming Christmas/New Year season. The shop will be closed on Monday, December 24th through Thursday, December 27th. The store will also be closed on December 31st through January 1st.
The good news for everyone is the upcoming Year End sale. Ms. Sandra has scheduled her annual year end sale for Friday, December 28th and Saturday, December 29th. She hasn't yet decided on details of the sale, but wanted to be sure we gave our friends plenty of notice so you can plan to see us on this sale weekend.
I wanted to remind everyone about my upcoming (and last of the season) quilting class. It will be the Dresden Plate class and it is scheduled for January 19th beginning at 9:00 a.m. The cost of the class is $30 per person. We will be making a Dresden block during class. I will have a supply list available toward the middle of December for those who wish to take the class. Our class size is limited to five people and I believe we only have one lady who has expressed interest in attending. The great news is Ms. Sandra has the Dresden Plate AccuQuilt Go cutting die at the store. You can cut the petals out using the die and it is so much faster and easier than before. If you want to use the die to cut your own fabric for class, the cost is $.50 per 4 petals (or one cut). You need 20 petals for the Dresden Plate. If you have any questions, please feel free to call the shop at (931) 682-3746 or email us at thequiltingframe@gmail.com.
I will post further details regarding the sale as soon as I get them from Ms. Sandra so ya'll have plenty of time to make plans to come see us.
Ms. Sandra has a special request to one of our quilting clients, Ms. Barbara Owen. If you read this, would you please give the shop a call at the number listed above. We have lost your phone number and wanted to let you know your quilt is ready.
Everyone take care, be safe and have the Merriest Christmas Season ever!!!

Good Afternoon All!
Hello to All of our Quilting Friends:
Sandra and I made it back from Market on Tuesday about 2:00 in the afternoon - that 1500+ miles is no joke, let me tell you. We were all glad to get home once again.
I wanted to post a few pictures of things from quilt market and let you know about some upcoming classes and thoughts for possible classes in the future.
We still have room for at least one more person in the December 8th Jelly Roll Race class if anyone else is interested. Please call the shop at 931-682-3746 or email us at thequiltingframe@gmail.com and let us know of your interest as soon as you know. We only have two people signed up for the November 17th Beginner's Machine Applique class on November 17th. We need at least one other person to join if the class is to go ahead....again, let us know if you are interested as soon as you can.
We also have the Dresden Plate class scheduled for Saturday, January 19th. We received the AccuQuilt Go cutting die for those who wish to use it to cut the pieces for the plate....we have two people interested in this class, and we need at least one more for it to happen....
I have had several requests about bag classes....I found a pattern and tutorial and made several of these tote bags (picture below). I also purchased some handbag hardware and Sandra and I took a bag class at Market. I am going to be working on mastering all of this and plan on doing some classes after tax season next year.
In addition, Sandra and I had the pleasure of taking a class with Ms. Eleanor Burns. She was featuring her new book coming out, Tales of First Ladies. Ms. Burns was very kind and funny and we enjoyed the class immensely.
We have had several inquiries about Block of the Month clubs that are not geared toward a particular Holiday, so we have decided to do a Block of the Month club beginning in April of next year based on her new book, Tales of the First Ladies. The book shows the quilt put together in many different ways using the eight blocks from the quilt. This quilt's versatility lends itself very well to anyone's interpretation of layout and you will have a simply stunning quilt. The finished quilt is a large queen size featuring 12" finished blocks. She autographed one of the books which will be given away the first Saturday the club meets. We are thinking of meeting the last Saturday of the month at the shop, say from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., so we can talk about any problems, bring the prior months blocks in for show and tell and let us know if there is anything we can do to be of help with the success of your project. There will be a $40 sign up fee for this class, however, for those who make it to the end, we will take the $40 off of any backing fabric you choose to pick out at the shop for your quilt. We will begin sign up probably around the first of the year, unless you already know for sure you wish to participate, and then you can go ahead and let us know. We haven't picked out fabric yet, and don't know what the price per month will be as of yet. As soon as we do, we will let you know so you can make a decision regarding participation. I took a picture of the quilt on the fron the book, so you can have an idea what the quilt will look like.....come join me for this fun and fabulous BOM club....
Come by the shop and we will have the book on display....
I'll have more pictures in the future....everyone take care and have a good weekend!

Hellos From Houston
Morning Everyone:
Sorry it has taken me so long to post....I seem to be a computer imbecile and cannot get the WiFi hooked up in my room, even though I brought I my laptop. Oh well, that slight unhappiness has been overshadowed by the truly unbelievable event that is Quilt Market. It is overwhelming in the extreme, interesting to see all the new gadgets and fabrics that are coming out, including patterns, books, fabrics, notions, etc..and is quite exhausting to boot...
Sandra and I had a class with Penny Haren yesterday morning, the author of Pieced Applique....she has pioneered a way to make heirloom quality quilts easier by piecing applique over pieced blocks. Stunning quilts to be sure....
This morning at 8:00 a.m., we are going to a class with the Grand Dame of quilting, Ms. Eleanor Burns. We saw her at Sample Spree Friday night...she was so kind and sweet. We are excited to hear her lecture on her new book of quilts, First Ladies Quilts.
I was lucky enough to meet Lynn Hagemeier from Kansas Trouble Quilts yesterday and I bought her latest book of patterns and a new ruler set she is going to have out after the first of the year. I also bought three books and ruler sets for the store, so they will be available sometime next week. She has a new line of fabric debuting called Pleasant Hill and it is as gorgeous as every line they have made....The new book has patterns for layer cakes, charm squares and mini-charm squares, and you know how I love precuts.
I will be posting pictures as soon as I can when I get home. I apologize for not being able to do so while we are here, but as my husband (aka my computer geek) says, "Users, what do you do with them???"..
Talk to ya'll soon.

HOUSTON QUILT MARKET, HERE WE COME!!!!
Morning Everone!
The time has finally come and we will be setting off on our journey on Thursday about lunch time. This will be Sandra's first time at quilt market (and of course mine as well) and we are both very excited. Everyone tells us the first time you go it is overwhelming...we can't wait. I am taking my computer with me along with a camera. I am going to attempt to take some pictures and show ya'll as much as I can while we are there. We are very excited about what new we can bring back with us to share with all of our friends here at the quilt shop.
Just a reminder, the shop will be CLOSED on Saturday, October 27th. Ms. Margaret will have the shop open on Friday the 26th, Monday and Tuesday, the 29th and 30th unless some unforeseen emergency arises. You may want to give the shop a call and make sure she is going to be there if you are driving from some distance away to be on the safe side.
Okay, a quick update on the class schedule. The Jelly Roll Race class is full on November 10th as of right now. We have had so much interest in this class, we are scheduling an additional Jelly Roll Race class for Saturday, December 8th from 9:00 to 11:30ish. Cost is $20 per person. You need to bring your sewing machine, basic sewing supplies including a ruler, a marking implement and either a good pair of scissors or a rotary cutter. You will also need to bring a jelly roll. We have some at the store for purchase at $34.95 or if you have one already, you are of course welcome to bring it with you. We have four other ladies who want to take this class and if the 8th works for their schedule, we will only have room for one more. If there is still further interest, we will schedule another one but we need to know who is definitely interested. Please give the store a call at 931-682-3746 or email us at thequiltingframe@gmail.com.
The Beginner's Machine Applique class is scheduled for Saturday, November 17th from 9:00 a.m. to 11:30ish. The cost is $25 per person. A list of supplies will be available. We will be using the Sunbonnet Sue / Overall Sam AccuQuilt Go cutouts for our class. We have these available with Steam A Seam already applied for $2.00 per cutout. You will need six cutouts for the class. You can bring your own fabric and Steam A Seam and use our cutter to make them out of your own fabric for $.50 per cutout. We have two ladies interested and need at least one more scheduled for the class to go ahead. We have room for five people, total. If you are interested in taking the Dresden Plate class in January and have no experience whatsoever with machine applique, this would be a good class as the Dresden block in the class will also be machine appliqued.
As noted above, our Dresden Plate class is scheduled for Saturday, January 19th from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon. The cost of the class is $30 per person. A list of supplies will be available at the store in the near future. Ms. Sandra has ordered the Dresden cutting die for the AccuQuilt Go cutter and it will be here in the next little while. I will show you how to cut them with the ruler during the class, as well. We will prepare one complete Dresden block to get you started on your way to one of the most beautiful quilt pattens. We have one lady signed up for this class to date.
Again, a big shout out and a thank you to the ladies who just finished my very first Beginner's Quilting Class. I enjoyed it very much and can't wait to see what your finished quilts look like after all your hard work. I will be posting pictures as soon as they are completed so everyone can see and enjoy all your hard work.
We hope everyone has a safe and happy weekend....and we'll be talking to you soon!

Morning Everyone!!!
Morning Everybody!
Isn't this the greatest weather......it looks like fall has arrived!!! Doesn't that make you think about upcoming days and nights snuggled down in that new quilt you just finished enjoying your favorite warm beverage and a good book (quilting, of course :):))
Wanted everyone to know that our "Not the Shop Hop Sale" sale is ongoing through the 6th of October. With the weather cooling off, it is a perfect time to get out and visit all the area shops. All bolted fabric is 20% off and all quilt kits are 10% off. Precuts are also 10% off. The patterns, pattern books and batting are not on sale. Finished quilts are also on sale, marked down from 10% to 20%. We have several bed sized quilts and some smaller baby and lap sized quilts as well as a few wall hangings. Also, Ms. Sandra went fabric shopping last Sunday, and there are a few new bolts in the shop to browse!
This is the last week of our Beginner's Quilting Class, and the time truly has flown by. The ladies have all been excellent students and fun to work with, even though I sent them home with homework every week! We have crammed alot into the last four weeks, and I am excited to see their finished quilts. Thanks again ladies for all your hard work, patience with a new teacher and sense of humor. I have enjoyed every minute of our time together!!!!
Our Hearts and Stars class is scheduled for Saturday, October 13th from 9:00 a.m. to 11:30ish. The cost is $25 per person. We have three ladies interested, and have room for 1-2 more if you are interested. Please call the shop at (931) 682-3746 or email us at thequiltingframe@gmail.com and let us know. I am putting my own version together as we speak and am hoping it will be ready for show and tell on class day. We have one already hung in the shop made with 30's reproductions. For anyone wanting to make this quilt, I will tell you that laying it out and putting it together is very challenging. I spent 2-3 hours just laying the quilt out and getting the pieces where they needed to be. However, all the effort will be worth it as it is a stunning quilt when finished.
The Jelly Roll Race class is scheduled for Saturday, November 10th from 9:00 a.m. to 11:30ish. The cost is $20 per person. This is a really fun, quick and easy way to make a quilt in a day. You absolutely can do this, even a beginner. All you need is a jelly roll, sewing machine, pencil and ruler, and you are off. If you want to add borders (which is very common), you can make a lovely large lap quilt. The jelly roll center itself, quilted and bound, would make a lovely baby or small child quilt. I have three ladies interested in this class, and have room for 1-2 more.....call us and let us know if you want to join us. If we have more people than we can fit in this one class, I will schedule another class perhaps the first or second weekend of December.
The Machine Applique class is scheduled for Saturday, November 17th from 9:00 a.m. to 11:30ish a.m. The cost is $20 per person. We will be using the Sunbonnet Sue / Overall Sam precuts available at the shop. The cost of the doll with Steam A Seam already on it is $2.00 per doll. You will need six dolls for our project. If you want to bring your own fabric with Steam A Seam already applied, you can use our AccuQuilt Go Cutter to cut your dolls out. Each doll is $.50. We also have Steam A Seam available for sale at the shop for purchase, should you need some.
I have scheduled one class for January, on the 19th. This will be our Dresden Plate class. I have had people requesting a Dresden Plate class. Ms. Sandra will be ordering the Dresden Plate cutting die from AccuQuilt Go if you want to cut your petals out using this. I can also show you how to cut them out using a Dresden Ruler. The cost of this class is $25 per person and will run from 9:00 a.m. to 11:30ish. We are going to cut out enough petals for one Dresden plate and make the plate in class. This quilt does require some basic machine applique, so if you haven't done machine applique prior to this class, it may be a bit more challenging.
Alas, after the 19th of January, tax season will suck me up until April 15th.
Also wanted to give everyone an update regarding the store hours. Ms. Sandra and I are taking a road trip to Houston, Texas for the Houston International Quilt Market. We will be gone from Thursday, October 25th through Tuesday, October 30th. Ms. Margaret will be at the shop on Friday, Monday and Tuesday for any of you ladies that wish to drop something off or come shopping. THE STORE WILL NOT BE OPEN ON SATURDAY, OCTOBER 27TH.
One last thing, please don't forget that Ms. Sandra has set the cut off for guaranteed Christmas delivery (barring any unforeseen circumstances) at Saturday, October 13th. If you know you have something you are going to need by Christmas, please make sure you have it in the shop by Saturday next, or call us and let us get you on her list by the cut off date. After October 13th, she cannot guarantee she will be able to get it done.
Everyone have a fabulous weekend and enjoy all this beautiful fall weather!! Happy days to you all!
Melissa

Cutting Instructions for Beginner's Class
Hello Ladies:
As per my promise, I am going to give you a list of pieces you will need for the three blocks we are going to cover on Saturday. As always, keep any remaining strip pieces for use in later blocks. If you have enough "scrap" pieces to cut the square blocks, go ahead.
FRAMED FOUR PATCH;
1. Cut one 3.5" strip from each of your four fabrics.
2. Subcut into four 3.5" blocks from each strip.
3. Cut one 2" strip from each of your four fabrics.
4. Subcut into two pieces 2" x 6.5" and two pieces 2" x 9.5".
NINE PATCH:
1. Cut one 3.5" strip from each of your four fabrics.
2. Subcut each strip into three pieces 11" long.
COURTHOUSE STEP VARIATION:
1. Cut one 2" strip of each of your four fabrics.
2. Subcut in half, giving you eight pieces, 2" x approx. 21".
3. You will need five 3.5" blocks per nine patch block, in addition to what we will make from steps #1 and 2 above, four lights and one dark. You can either cut five 3.5" blocks, four "lighter" and one "darker"
or you can wait till class if this is a bit ambiguous.
Hope ya'll have had a safe and good week so far, and am looking forward to seeing ya'll on Saturday!
Melissa

Morning Everyone!
Good Morning Friends and Fellow Quilters:
Just wanted to take a moment and say a big Hello! and thank you to the ladies from our beginner's quilting class that began last Saturday. I hope everyone had a great time, and are looking forward to this Saturday's class. I sure am....
Remember, if you have any questions, don't hesitate to send me an email at thequiltingframe@gmail.com, and I will be happy to answer it or schedule an evening for us to meet at the shop. I will be posting (hopefully) by Thursday evening the instructions for the three blocks we will be making in class this Saturday. For those who wish, they can go ahead and start cutting their fabrics ahead of time to get a jump start on the class. This will be our busiest class, as I am hoping to cover three blocks (we will be doing a framed 4-patch block, the ever versatile 9-patch block and a variation of the 9-patch block that looks very much like the courthouse step block).
I wanted to let everyone know that we need at least one more person to sign up for the Hearts and Stars class on October 13th. We have two ladies definitely interested and the third lady will unfortunately be unable to attend. If you are interested, please let us know by phone or email at your earliest convenience. Also, as mentioned in my previous post, Sandra has quilt kits made up for this class if you wish to purchase one and is giving a 10% discount on product purchased for the classes.
The Jelly Roll Race class, the Machine Applique Class and the Dresden class are all available for you to sign up for at this time. Let us know if you are interested.
Don't forget about out "Not the Shop Hop Sale" sale beginning Saturday, September 29th and running through Saturday, October 6th. All bolted fabric will be 20% off and kits will be 10% off with other items being marked down as displayed. None of the batting, books and patterns will be on sale for this sale. Stop by, say hello and see what we have for you!
Everyone enjoy this lovely, lovely weather as best you can, and we look forward to seeing you soon!

NEWS!!!!
Morning Everyone!!!
Hope everyone had a safe and happy Labor Day Holiday weekend. The weather was not all we could have hoped for, but at least it didn't storm and pour rain the entire time.
I have quite a bit of information for you all today, so here goes:
SALE: We have decided to have a "Not the Shop Hop Sale" sale. We figured since we are not having our usual fall Shop Hop this year, we would have the Shop Hop sale without the actual Shop Hop. The sale will begin on Saturday, September 29th and run through Saturday, October 6th. All bolted fabric will be 20% off and quilt kits will be 10% off. All other items will be discounted as marked, including finished quilts, precuts, etc. The quilt batting, quilt patterns and pattern books will not be on sale for this sale. Come by and see us if you can and pick up what you need to finish all those projects, both large and small, that you will need by the Holidays.
CHRISTMAS CUT OFF: Ms. Sandra wants everyone to know that if you have a project you need quilted by Christmas, you need to have it into her no later than Saturday, October 13th. After October 13th, she cannot guarantee to have the project back to you in time for Christmas. Please mark you calendars with this date if you know you will need something done.
INTERNATIONAL QUILT MARKET: Ms. Sandra and I will be attending the International Quilt Market in Houston, Texas this year. We will be gone from Friday, October 26th through Tuesday, October 30th. Ms. Margaret will be at the shop during our trip, but not necessarily the regular shop hours. We suggest that you call the shop before coming by to ensure she will be there to assist you. We are very excited to be attending our first Quilt Market, and look forward to seeing all the new notions, patterns, fabrics, etc. upcoming and can't wait to share what we find with all of you. We will take pictures as allowed and post pictures and notes to the blog, so you can come with us for this exciting event.
UPCOMING CLASSES: Our Beginners Quilting class begins this Saturday, September 8th at 9:00 a.m. I am looking forward to meeting all the participants, and am very excited at the opportunity to assist you in the start of what I hope will be a life long hobby. For those who haven't already, the list of supplies required is available at the shop. We have all the items required at the shop for purchase, and Ms. Sandra is offering a 10% discount on fabric and notions purchased at the shop for the class. Unless we have a very sudden interest, the second beginners quilt class discussed in previous posts will not go ahead. If, by chance, you are still interested, the cut off for confirming is Wednesday, September 5th at 5:00 p.m.
For those ladies interested, we have the Hearts and Stars class on Saturday, October 13th from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. The cost is $25 per person. The quilt has been on display at the shop, and there are pictures in my previous posts. Ms. Sandra also has some quilt kits made for this quilt available for purchase, and if you do so for the class, you will get the 10% discount.
The second Jelly Roll Race quilt class is scheduled for Saturday, November 10th at 9:00 a.m. to 11:30ish a.m. The cost is $20 per person. This is a great beginners quilting class, but is also really fun for those who have some depth of experience in quilting. I have posted pictures from my last Jelly Roll Race quilt class in previous posts. These quilts are great gifts and can be assembled in a snap. We have various Moda Jelly Rolls available for purchase at the shop for $34.95/ea (these are already 10% off regular retail of $39.90, so will not be marked down an additional 10% for class). We have three different Christmas Jelly Rolls available, including Holiday Medley by Kansas Troubles, Share the Joy (eek, I can't remember who the designer is :( ) and have just received Merry Medley by Sandy Gervais.
Our second Machine Applique class is scheduled for Saturday, November 17th at 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. The cost is $20 per person. We had our first class in August and had an extraordinary time. I have had some requests regarding an additional class. This is a beginner's machine applique class for those with little or no experience with the technique.
We will also be scheduling a Dresden Plate class, by popular demand. This time honored quilting design continues to be one of the quilt world's most popular. The shop will be acquiring the cutting die for the Accuquilt Go! cutter to cut out the plate pieces. I will let you know when this will be available. The cost of the class will be $25 per person and will be on Saturday, January 17th from 9:00 a.m. to 11:30ish a.m. (It will be helpful for those wanting to do the Dresden Plate class to have some familiarity with machine applique techniques, as this is how the plate is attached to the background fabric.)
If you are interested in attending any of these class, please make sure you call the shop at (931) 682-3746 or email us at thequiltingframe@gmail.com. We need at least three participants per class for the class to go ahead. If you sign up for a class that is subsequently cancelled, we will notify you as soon as possible. The cut off for signing up for any of these classes is the Wednesday prior to the Saturday class.
Our class status update is as follows: the Saturday morning beginner's quilting class is full and no one has yet contacted us regarding a second beginner's quilting class we were willing to schedule either on Saturday afternoon or one evening during the week. We would need three people for this class to go ahead. We have three persons tentatively interested in the Hearts and Stars class on the 13th of October, so we have room for at least two more. We haven't anyone definitively signed up for the Jelly Roll Race class on November 10th or the Machine Applique class on November 17th. The Dresden Plate class sign up will begin today. If you wish to attend any of these classes, please call or email us at the number and address given above. If you have any questions regarding any of these class, please contact us and we will be happy to help you any way we can.
We hope you all have a great rest of your week (at least for most of us, it is a short work week), and we look forward to seeing you when you get the chance to stop by.
Take Care!

Good Morning and Class Update
Hello Everyone!!!
It is Monday, and I am afraid it is going to be all day long, but wasn't the temperature great out this morning. Makes me think Fall really isn't too far away.
I wanted to give a big shout out to the ladies from my Jelly Roll Race quilt class on Saturday. I had a great time with ya'll and hope you had a great time as well. I can't wait to see the pictures of the quilts you started Saturday so I can see how they turned out. Thanks again to Jenny for texting me a picture of hers. If ya'll will send me pictures by email, I'll post them on the blog for everyone to see!!! We have a second Jelly Roll Race class scheduled for Saturday, November 10th from 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.. I also have some new Moda Christmas jelly rolls on order that will be available for the class. We still have some Holiday Medley by Kansas Troubles, Share the Joy by Deb Strain (I think) and will be getting in Merry Medley by Sandy Gervais and Winter Elegance (not sure who the designer is on this one).
I had the last space in my Saturday morning 9:00 a.m. to 11:30ish a.m. beginner's quilting class fill up on Friday. We are still taking names of people who are interested to see if we have enough interest to do a second beginner's class, perhaps Saturday afternoon or one evening during the week. Make sure you email us at thequiltingframe@gmail.com or call the shop at (931) 682-3746 to add your name to the list. We need at least three people interested to start another class, so be sure and call as soon as you are certain you want to take the class.
On October 13, 2012, we will be having our Hearts and Stars Quilt class. I have posted pictures of this quilt on prior blogs, so you can check back and look at this beautiful quilt. Ms. Sandra made three new kits for this quilt and is giving a 10% discount off on anything bought for class.
Everyone have a fabulous week!

Hello Again.....
Just a quick note....received an email a few minutes ago that one of the ladies signed up for the beginner's class was signed up in error, so I have room for one additional in the 9:00 a.m. to 11:30ish class beginning September 8th.
Thanks again!

Upcoming Classes
Morning Everyone!
We have some news about upcoming classes. I have scheduled one additional class for November. It is going to be another machine applique class. It will be on November 17th from 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. The cost is $20 per person. After the class we had a couple of weeks ago, I have had a couple of client inquiries as to a machine applique class. If we get enough participants (we need at least three), we will have the class. That will likely be our last class of the year as Thanksgiving comes soon after this class and then everyone is getting ready for the Christmas Holidays. If time permits, I am going to have a Dresden class sometime the 2nd or 3rd Saturday in January of 2013, before tax season swallows me up til mid-April. I will have more details on that class as time goes on.
So, a summary of upcoming classes:
Jelly Roll Race Class - August 18th (this class is full) and another on November 10th (need 3 participants). Cost is $20 per person plus the cost of the jelly roll. We have ordered some Moda jelly rolls, so if you are interested and want one, come see us. The cost of the jelly rolls are $34.95 each (I went ahead and reduced the price of these by 10%).
Beginner's Quilting Class - Saturday September 8th through Saturday October 6th - 9:00 a.m. to 11:30ish - cost is $75 for the series (this class is full, however, if we have enough additional people who wish to take it, we will schedule a second beginners class beginning the same week, perhaps on Saturday afternoon from 1:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. or perhaps a weeknight from 6:00 til 8:30 p.m. depending on what works best for the interested parties). The list of supplies needed for the Beginner's Quilting Class is now available at the shop, or if you can't make it by the shop between now and September 8th, we can either mail, fax or email the list to you. You can email us at thequiltingframe@gmail.com or call us at (931) 682-3746 and let us know. Sandra is offering a 10% discount on any class supplies purchased at the shop (that includes fabric) and we should have everything you need in the next week or so.
It is very important that if you are still interested in the beginner's quilting class, you call or email us as soon as possible so we can gauge if we have enough additional people interested.
Hearts and Stars Class - Saturday, October 13th from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. - cost is $25 per person. Once you sign up, we can get you a copy of the pattern we are going to be using. I know at least one lady already signed up has purchased a kit, and Sandra made three additional kits yesterday. As always, she is offering 10% off on supplies purchased for the class, and that includes the quilt kits.
Machine Applique Class - Saturday, November 17th from 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. - cost is $20 per person. We need at least three participants to go ahead with the class. We will be using Sunbonnet Sue and Overall Sam applique's for this class. We have some precut with Steam A Seam on the back ready for use for $2.00 each. We can also cut some out from fabric of your choice, and we have some precut pieces ready to cut. Just stop by and let us know.
Also, wanted everyone to know we went fabric shopping Sunday, and have a few new fabrics for everyone to look through. We also have a couple of new fat quarter bundles.
If you have any questions, please contact us at your earliest convenience and everyone have a fabulous rest of the week!

Jelly Roll Race Quilt
Hey Again Everyone!!
Just a quick note......I had an email from one of our quilting friends requesting to see a picture of our jelly roll race quilts. I am attaching two pictures of jelly roll race quilts. Melissa made these for two friends of her's using the same jelly roll for the center (the "jelly roll race" part) and added different borders. They both turned out very pretty and surprisingly different. As we noted on an earlier blog, our class for August 18th is booked full, and we have scheduled a second class for Saturday, November 10th @ 9:00 a.m. til 11:30 a.m. The cost is $20 per person. Just give the shop a call at 931-682-3746 to let us know you would like to come. We have purchased several Moda Jelly Rolls for those who wish to buy jelly roll(s) for the class, or of course you are welcome to bring one from home. We have several Christmas jelly rolls (Holiday in Kashmir; Share the Joy; Holiday Medley), two for autumn (Phenomenal Fall) and others including Hello Luscious by Basic Grey; Panier De Fleuris by French General; Curio by Basic Grey (I think), California Girl by Fig Tree Quilts and Coming Home by Deb Strain. I also have two Petite Odile by French General and two jelly rolls of Meadow by Blackbird designs. We have tried to get a mixture so we would have something that would appeal to everyone!

Both of these measure approximately 66 x 84 ish (can't remember exactly). You can certainly make them bigger by adding more borders to get the size you require. Melissa (the teacher) is trying to figure out how to make one queen size. The first one didn't turn out exactly as she had hoped, but she will bring it for "show and tell"!
Have a great week!

Class Update and Good Morning!
Morning Everyone!
I wanted to let our clients know that we have had a cancellation in our beginner's quilting class. The class is to start Saturday, September 8th and run through Saturday, October 6th. The class is from 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. The cost is $75 for the five week series. A list of supplies needed will be available soon. If you know someone who has mentioned wanting to know the basics, this is a great class. The participants will leave the class with their first completed quilt top. We will begin with the basics of machine set up, sewing accurate seams and go from there. We have two people definitely and maybe a third, so we have room for 1-2 more participants. Call the store ASAP at (931) 682-3746 or email us at thequiltingframe@gmail.com and let us know you want to come.
Hope everyone is having a great Monday! If not, just think, only 8 more hours til we can sew some more!!

Machine Applique classes, BOM and Upcoming Classes
Good Morning Everyone!
I wanted to give a big thank you to the ladies who joined us for our machine applique class last Saturday. I had such a great time teaching the class and hope you ladies enjoyed it just as much. I look forward to seeing you back on August 18th for the jelly roll race quilt class. Here are a couple of quick pictures from Saturday.

I look forward to seeing you back on August 18th for the jelly roll race quilt class. Here are a couple of quick pictures from Saturday.
Our Jelly Roll Race class for August 18th is full, but I have tentatively scheduled another Jelly Roll Race class for Saturday, November 10th from 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. The cost is $20.00 per person for the class. A supplies list will be available when you call and register for the class.
As of this moment, our 5-week beginners class is also completely booked. If we have enough people interested in another beginners class, we may be able to schedule a second class, perhaps in the evening, but we need at least three people for that class to go ahead. If you are interested in our beginners class, please call the shop at (931) 682-3746 or email us at thequiltingframe@gmail.com and let us know. If we get three people, we will set the schedule accordingly.
Also, for those who are interested in the Mother-Child sewing class, we need at least three participants. If you are interested, the class is Saturday, August 11th from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. We will be making a pillow top. Again, please contact us as soon as you are sure you wish to come. If we don't have at least three participants (in this case pairs of participants) by Wednesday, August 8th, we will call those who have signed up and let them know the class has been cancelled.
Now for the funner bit.........we finished our Halloween Block of the Month quilt last week and have it hanging up at the shop. Boy, it is just as cute as we had hoped and such fun to piece/machine applique. We have a couple of kits still available at the shop if you are interested in beginning this fun quilt. It is a 3 month BOM club, the first blocks available in July. You get 2 blocks per month and they are $24.95 each, or $49.90 for both. If we have enough interest, we may order some more pattern packages, so be sure to phone, email or stop by and let us know you would like to start this fun, fun project. A picture of our finished quilt is below.
This quilt may look difficult but was very simple to put together.
As a quick reminder as well, we have our Hearts and Stars quilt class scheduled for Saturday, October 13th from 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. I am posting a picture of the quilt we have in the shop of this pattern pieced in 30's reproductions. I am doing one before the class in reds, whites and blacks. I'll post that picture as soon as it is completed.
Again, thanks so much to all our clients at the Quilting Frame and again, thanks to the ladies from class on Saturday.
Have a great week everyone!

Applique Class and Halloween BOM
Morning all!
Boy that rain sure was great...........we certainly needed it and isn't it amazing how fast the grass starts to grow once the rains start. Yards that were just 1-1/2 weeks ago brown are now green and growing. It is amazing....
I wanted to let everyone know the status of our upcoming classes. I have two machine applique classes scheduled for July 21st and 28th. The 28th class has 3 students signed up so will definitely be happening. We have room for one further person in the 28th class. The class for this coming Saturday, the 21st, has only one participant signed up. We need at least two more people to sign up by Wednesday at 5:00 p.m. for that class to go ahead. We will be working on Sunbonnet Sue and Overall Sam. The class will be from 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and is $20 per person. Please let us know by Wednesday if you are interested in taking this class this Saturday.
We also have our Mother-Daughter Class (or Grandmother-Grandchild, Aunt-Niece/Nephew, etc.) upcoming on Saturday August 11th. The cost of this class is $15 per pair and runs from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. We will be making a pillow for the children. Please call the shop and sign up as soon as possible.
We have also started our Halloween piecing/machine applique BOM series. We have attached pictures to prior posts. This is such a fun project and we know you will enjoy the series. The cost is $49.95 per mo and each month you get two blocks. This includes the cost of the patterns, fabric, pre-printed fabric pieces, buttons and 4 yards of steam a seam for the machine applique. Please give us a call at (931) 682-3746 if you are interest so we can ensure we have enough patterns for those who wish to participate.
Everyone have a great week!

Halloween Block of the Month
For those of you who are curious about our block of the month club blocks, we are posting the five center blocks that we have made here at the store. Each one took from 3-4 hours to do, so not tricky or difficult. I think everyone will see how cute this quilt will be when it is finished.

Morning Everyone!
I was just reviewing my prior post regarding the class schedule, and wouldn't you know I found a mistake.....even though I looked it over and looked it over before I published it..
The October 13th class is actually called HEARTS AND STARS (not Hearts and Starts as previously published)..
If you are thinking about joining us for the Jelly Roll Race class on August 18th, I wanted to let you know I will have a selection of Moda Jelly Rolls available for this class. As soon as we have these, you can stop by the store and see if there is one that peaks your interest. This really is a super, duper fun way to make a quilt top in a day. I will be posting pictures sometime in the next week or so of two that I have finished. I am going to start on the queen sized one in the next week or so, and hopefully will have it for show and tell the day of the class. This will be such an easy way for everyone to make those last minute gifts (i.e. the baby shower in the next week or two, someone you find out is graduating from school, a friend who needs a "get well soon" gift, a last minute wedding present). The quilt center with one jelly roll measures approx. 48" x 64". I added one two inch unfinished border and a second six inch unfinished border to the quilts, and mine ended up measuring 66" x 81".
Also wanted to let everyone know that we have the center blocks finished for our Block of the Month club that starts this month. What a fun quilt to do with both piecing and machine applique pieces. We will be posting pictures of the finished blocks the first of the week. If you are interested in particpating, please make sure you call the store at (931) - 682-3746, email us at thequiltingframe@gmail.com or stop by the shop when you are in the neighborhood (5990 Leipers Creek Road, Santa Fe, TN) so we can be sure to have enough pattern packs for those who wish to participate. For those who want to know, our hours are Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday 9:00 to 5:00; Friday 9:00 - 4:00 and Saturday 9:00 - 12:00 (although we are ususally at the shop until after 12:00 on Saturday, so call us if you want to be sure we are still there). The shop is closed on Thurdays and Sundays.
Hope ya'll have a safe and cool weekend!

Class Schedule
Good Morning Everyone!
Hope everyone had a great weekend and is looking forward to a great July 4th Holiday!!!! Sandra and I set down a schedule of upcoming classes. We may add more as time goes on, so please keep a check on our blog for all updates. IMPORTANT INFORMATION ***All classes require a minimum of three participants to happen. You must let us know you are attending by the Wednesday prior to the Saturday class. If we do not have enough participants, those who have signed up will be called ASAP to let them know the class has been cancelled. There is a maximum of four participants per class; if we have more than four sign up, a second class will be scheduled as soon as feasible.****
July 21, 2012 / July 28, 2012 - Machine Applique Class - 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. - Cost = $20/pp.
This is an either /or date schedule. We have had significant interest in this class, so in case we have more than four people interested, I have reserved two dates. We will be working on either Sunbonnet Sue or Overall Sam appliques. You will need six of either/or or some of both, whichever you prefer. I have the class supplies list and information available at the Quilting Frame. Remember, we have the Accuquilt Go cutter at the store and cutting die for both of these appliques. If you want to bring your own fabric and Steam A Seam, you can use our Accuquilt Go cutter for $.50 per cut (one cut = one entire Sue/Sam applique). We have fabric and Steam A Seam available for purchase at the store if you want to come pick out your colors. In addition, we have a few Sunbonnet Sue already cut out with Steam A Seam for $2.00 per applique.
August 11, 2012 - Mother / Child Quilting Class - 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. - Cost = $15 per pair.
We have had a few inquiries about a class for children from our quilting clients. We will be making a very simple quilt block that can be stitched together for a pillow. The class supply list will be available at least two weeks prior to the class.
August 18, 2012 - Jelly Roll Race Quilt - 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. - Cost = $20/pp.
This is a fun, simple, wonderful way to literally make a quilt in a day. All you need is a jelly roll (jelly roll = 40 - 2.5" strips of fabric) and some border fabric to match. This is great fun, really easy and always pretty. I have made three of these quilts so far, and each has been very beautiful. I am working on how to make one queen sized, so hopefully will have that for show-and-tell during the class. Again, supply list will be available at least two weeks prior to the class.
September 8th, 15th, 22nd, 29th and October 6, 2012 - Beginners Quilting Class - 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. - Cost = $75/pp for the series.
This is a beginner's class for those who have always wanted to try quilting. We will start at sewing correct seams, make several different types of blocks which will be sewn together to make your first ever quilt. It will be great fun for all, and hopefully for our students, the start of a life long love affair with this art form. I will have the supply list for this class available well in advance so make sure you call the store and let us know you are definitely interested.
October 20th, 2012 - Hearts and Starts Quilt - 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. - Cost = $25 / pp.
We have this quilt on the wall at the shop, and boy is it a beauty. Done in 30's reproductions, it reminds me of spring flowers. You can make this with any style of fabrics you choose, 30's, civil war, florals, red and white, black and white, blues and yellows, anything that appeals to you! A class supply list will be available at least two weeks prior to this class.
I look forward to visiting and working with all of you in the near future. As I said earlier, more classes may be added, so keep a watch on the blog. For your information, the phone number at the shop is 931-682-3746. The address is 5990 Leipers Creek Road, Santa Fe, TN.
Have a great, fun and safe Fourth of July Holiday!
Melissa (one of Sandra's Elves)

BIG NEWS....BIG NEWS.....READ ALL ABOUT IT...
Hi Everyone!
What a great weekend we had......it was fun and busy!!!! We went fabric shopping Sunday and boy did they have lots of new fabrics from which to choose. We found several new Christmas prints and panels for those who are looking to get an early start on their Christmas projects. We also found a beautiful blue toile and several lovely matching blue fabrics. We have new Judie Rothermel and Faye Burgos, a cute and funky set of chicken fabric......need we go on....
We are also super excited to tell everyone that we are going to have our first Block of the Month club pattern starting right after July 4th. We found the most adorable Halloween Quilt and we just couldn't resist. I am putting a picture below from the quilt packet.....we have gathered the fabric and are beginning to make the kits. If you can, either email us (thequiltingframe@gmail.com) or call us (931-682-3746) and let us know that you are interested in participating so we can be sure we have enough kits available for those who are interested. This is a set of six patterns with associated fabrics and accessories.
This Block of the Month is going to be over a span of three months (the first two packets available for pick up after July 4th) with two pattern packets per month. With the first two packets, you will also receive a pre-printed fabric packet for your quilt blocks, as well as a packet of buttons. We will also provide 4 yards of Steam A Seam for the entire quilt for you to use on the machine applique pieces. A couple of the blocks require minimal hand embroidery, and we will have some embroidery thread available for purchase if you so desire at an additional charge. The cost per month will be $49.95 (remember, this is for two block packets, not one).
Margaret wanted me to let everyone know that her birthday special discount (15% off) for piecing a T-shirt quilt will end come June 30th. Anyone who has been gathering T-shirts for that special someone a quilt (or maybe even yourself), please get them to her by the 30th so you will qualify for her special birthday discount.
We have a couple of new classes upcoming, one for machine applique (and won't that be just perfect for those of us who are working on that new Block of the Month club), as well as a class on our Hearts and Stars pattern. We have a Mother and Child class scheduled for August 11th for those who want to introduce their child (grandchild, niece/nephew, godchild, etc.) to a new past time. The age minimum is 8 years old. We are also considering scheduling a Jelly Roll Race quilt class. For those of you who have collected Jelly Rolls (and who of us haven't), here is a great way make a quilt in a day (literally). Melissa is working on calculating how to make one that will be big enough for a queen sized bed using more than just one Jelly Roll, and hopefully by the time of the class, she can show you that one as well). This is such a quick and easy way to make a gift for someone special, or just because. Make the quilt center, add a border (or two) and you will have a lovely gift that someone will always cherish. As always, there is a minimum of 3 participants required per class to have the class, so be sure and let us know if you are interested. I will post another blog in a few days with dates and times for these upcoming classes.
We are always interested in hearing your ideas about new classes and patterns you would like to see us carry. Please tell us if there is something you would like to have a class on, and we will do our best to accommodate those we can.
Take care everyone, and Happy Quilting!

Good Morning from Margaret
Good Morning Everyone:
For those of you who come to the shop regularly (or irregularly as well), my name is Margaret and I am Sandra's sister-in-law. I am the one responsible for piecing all those T-shirt quilts, baby quilts, rag quilts and any other quilt you can imagine for our wonderful customers. However, T-shirt quilts have become quite popular and I have had a lot of practice. Since June is my birthday month, I am offering a 15% discount on piecing a T-shirt quilt for you. It seems everyone has a stack of T-shirts that belong to either themselves or their family who love, baseball, football, Nascar, Harley Davidson, vacations, etc. Gather them up and bring them in and we will put together that T-shirt quilt for that special someone in your life, or even for yourself. The 15% discount is good on any size quilt from twin to queen.
I look forward to seeing you all real soon, and Happy June!
Margaret

HAPPY MEMORIAL DAY!!!
Good Day Everyone!
First and foremost, I want to take a moment to thank all the brave people all over the world in all branches of our military for the unstinting loyalty, bravery and heroism they portray each and every day on behalf of those of us still here at home. To their families and all who love them, we want you to know that we remember them and thank them for all the sacrifices they have made on behalf of all citizens of the United States of America. WE WILL NOT FORGET!!!!
Now, for a few more mundance matters in our quilting world. First off, the Mother-Child class that was scheduled for last Saturday, May 19th was cancelled due to scheduling conflicts. For all those people interested in taking this class, we will be scheduling it for Saturday, August 11th from 9:30 - 11:00. The price will be the same, $15 per pair. We need to know you will be taking the class no later than Wednesday, August 8th.
We also have a Beginners Quilting Class beginning Saturday, June 23rd through Saturday, July 28th, except for the July 4th weekend. This five week class is for those who have always wanted to try quilting, but haven't yet. We will begin with the basics of piecing, piece several different types of blocks and piece the blocks together to make your first quilt top. We need a minimum of 3 participants for this class to go ahead as scheduled (maximum class size is four persons), so call and let us know you are interested no later than Wednesday, June 20th. If you have signed up and we don't have enough participants, we will call and let you know either Wednesday afternoon or Friday morning.
Don't forget the Tennessee fabric challenge from last Fall's Shop Hop. The projects are due to us for judging no later than June 1st. Since Carousel Krafts is closing their doors, anyone who was going to submit projects there are welcome to bring them to me. When you are in the shop, make sure and vote for your favorite.
For all our loyal Saturday clients, we wanted to let everyone know that we will be closing at 12:00 p.m. this Saturday, May 26th. We have a class scheduled on the new long-arm quilting machine program for us, and boy are we excited!!!
Also, in case anyone is still in need of Bradley tomato plants, stop by and see us. The cups are $1.00 each and these tomato plants are large ones, so stop by and see our selection.
Again, thanks so much to all our loyal customers, and have a HAPPY AND SAFE MEMORIAL DAY weekend.

As well, all our already made bed sized quilts will be on sale, priced as marked with discounts anywhere from 10% - 25% off. What a great way to get a quick present for someone, or maybe even for yourself.
As a special treat, we will have music on the front porch beginning at 2:00 p.m. Come to browse and stay to listen. We will have at least one lady selling some delicious homemade fried pies to enjoy while you meander through.
I also wanted to reiterate our upcoming classes. The schedule is in the prior post, and if you are interested you need to make sure you call and schedule a place. Good Morning Everyone!
Well, I think spring has finally, definitely sprung! This hot/rain/cold cycle is playing havoc with all our spring planting (or at least mine, anyway).
We wanted to let you know about some upcoming classes, post a few pictures for ya'll to look and let you know what else you can look forward to in the next few months.
We wanted to show you a couple of pictures of some new T-shirt quilts Ms. Margaret has made in the last few weeks. This has proven to be ever popular in quilting circles, and a wonderful way to make a one of a kind gift for someone in your life. We have used T-shirts, baby clothes, dance outfits, etc. We can make it in any size, from lap to king (providing you have enough shirts, of course). Call and let us know if we can help you make a lovely, one of a kind gift for that special person in your life.
This is a T-shirt quilt Ms. Margaret made for a client of ours using his collection of shirts from racing events. We have done T-shirt quilts with football shirts, baseball shirts, Harley Davidson shirts, just about anything and everything you can think of.
We also have some upcoming classes for our clients. We have been collecting some ideas that ya'll have given us, and have set a series of classes accordingly. Remember, we have room enough only for four people sewing in our classroom, so if you are interested, make sure and call and let us know so we can reserve your spot. Supply lists will be ready once payment is received for the class scheduled.
The first class will be Saturday, May 19th from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. This is our Mother-Child quilting class (or it can be Aunt and Child, Grandmother and Child, etc.). We will be making a pillow in this class that your child can enjoy for years to come, most especially because it was made with someone they love. The cost of the class is $15 per adult/child combo.
Our next series of classes will begin June 23rd and run for five Saturdays (except for the July 4th weekend). It will end on July 28th, 2012. The cost of this series of classes is $15 per class or $75 for the five week series. It will be for those who have always wanted to try a quilting project, but haven't yet managed to do so. We will begin with the very basics of piecing, piece several blocks and then sew the blocks together. At the end of the class, you will have your first quilt top ready to be quilted.
We are also planning on having a class on machine applique and our new Hearts and Stars pattern (see below for a picture). More details about these classes will be forthcoming in a few weeks. Remember to keep look back here for additional information. Flyers will also be available at the shop in the future.
We are always looking for ideas about classes you want to take. Please let us know if there is something you are interested in specifically.
Also, as a side note, we have just come back from a fabric shopping trip, so stop by and see what we have new. We also have some kits pre-made for the Hearts and Stars pattern using our 30's reproduction line called Emma Lena's Treasures.
Thanks so much to all of our clients, and we look forward to seeing you all soon.
Sandra (and her Elves)
P.S. My husband, Larry, has gone on a planting spree; we are talking feverish garden gnome planting. We have lots of Bradley tomato plants he is selling for $1.50 a cup. These are good sized tomato plants. We also have other vegetables and herbs, so come by and take a look!
Thanks again!

Happy Spring
Hello everyone, It's been such beautiful weather. Today was gorgeous. We've been working on our new project with the Emma Lenna fabrics. I think we have all the bugs out of the pattern, and will be making kits for it soon. We went fabric shoping again today and have some new fabrics. We have also made up several new kits.
I would like to thank all my customers for all the business you have given me these last 16 years. Yes it's been 16 years since I first started quilting out of my basement. God has truly blessed me not only with the business but mostly getting to know so many wonderful people. Again thanks to all of you.
Larry has started a new adventure. He and Ginny Drews have been planting seeds like crazy in the green house. Ginny will have heirloom plants and Larry has tomatos, peppers, cucumbers, and lots of other things. We are planing on having a plant, yard, craft, fabric sale one Sat. soon. We may even have some music to top off the day. I will give you the date and more datails soon.

Morning Everyone!
Good Morning Everyone!
I certainly hope you have had a great month of January. The weather temperature wise sure has been a surprise. I don't know about ya'll, but if it doesn't get cold soon, we are going to call this the longest fall season on record!
Wanted to let everyone know that we have lots of new fabric in the shop. We went on a little shopping excursion, and boy did we find some great new treats. We now are carrying the 1930's reproduction line from Choices Fabrics, called Emma Lena's Treasures. For those of you who subscribe to Better Home and Garden's America's Patchwork and Quilting magazine, you can see them on page 87. Come in, and we'll be happy to show you what we have. We have made one quilt kit with this so far, so come see what we have. We also picked up a new line of blenders called Distinctions. Very rich colors from dark purple to red to orange, gold and green. These will make great additions to batik projects, autumnal color schemes or make a quilt featuring just these lovely jewel colors. Stained glass quilt from these would be gorgeous!
We also have several new quilt kits available. We have made a quilt kit for a twin sized Sunbonnet Sue quilt. The Sunbonnet Sue's are precut pieces with our AccuQuilt Go cutter with Steam A Seam already on the back of the pieces. All you have to do is arrange them on the square, iron them down and stitch! Quick, easy and fun. It's like playing with paper dolls again!!!! We can cut Sunbonnet Sue or Farmer Sam out of any fabric you choose, either buy it from us or bring it from home. It is just 50 cents a cut, plus the cost of the Steam a Seam for the back. One cut gives you one Sunbonnet Sue. We also have several different cutting dies for the AccuQuilt Go cutter, including one with different sized hearts, flower and petals, Christmas do-dads, Baby quilt applique cuts, etc. Come in and take a look and see if these will enhance any of your projects.
We will be having some more classes in late spring and summer. Make sure you contact us about a class you would be interested in taking. All ideas are very welcome. Last fall, an idea was put forth regarding machine applique quilting, so that may be an option. We will also do another beginning quilting class if people are interested. That will encompass several weeks. Please give us any ideas you may have regarding classes you would like to take.
Hope everyone has a great rest of the week, and please come see all our new fabric on offer. We think you will be very pleased.
Have a Great Day!
